Mirlande Jean-Louis, LMT is a native New Yorker with parents from the Caribbean island of Haiti. From an early age she witnessed her father massaging family members and friends in exchange for a meal, a few dollars, or just conversation. Since then a massage career has always been on her mind.
In 2007, Mirlande graduated from Barnard College/Columbia University with a degree in Creative Writing and began working for the publisher of Vogue Knitting magazine. However, she decided to change career paths from publishing to health care and went to school to pursue massage therapy. Soon after, Mirlande was accepted into the prestigious Swedish Institute’s Massage Therapy program. While there, she discovered a love for myology and Shiatsu massage. Now Mirlande continues to work with her hands and heart in combination in private practice.
